Copper trading range for the day is 447.3-459.3. Copper prices gained as investors took up new long positions as Beijing continues to restrict output on environmental grounds. Chile produced 536,643 tonnes of copper in December, the government said, a 5.6 percent increase from the same period a year before. Chile’s Codelco has struck a contract deal with workers at its Andina copper mine as it tries to reach advance agreements with unions in a year busy with labour negotiations.
